I tripped over an ornamental curb in front of the post office, and fell hard. Breaking my glasses and bleeding a lot. Good samaritans called 911, mailed my letter, and got me ice and paper towels.
The paramedics took me to the hospital, where they took me in to get the xrays in just a few minutes. Then I waited to see the doctor. If my nose would have stopped bleeding I could have been out of there in a couple of hours, but unfortunately I sneezed and it started up again.
I'm already taking an antibiotic, but she gave me a prescription for another one and packed my left nostril. (That hurt). Also for percocet. I'm not in that much pain at the moment, but I don't know how I'll feel when I try to sleep.
When they let me loose, with copies of the xrays to give to my ENT tomorrow, I came home and found my spare glasses, and my mother took me up to retrieve my car. I stopped and got the percocet, and now I am home, instead of being at work.
Fortunately I have two down coats, and the cleaners say they can get the blood out of the pale blue one. $25 is pricy, but it's cheaper than buying a new one. As it is, I threw out my wrist braces, and I don't know if my shirt is salvagable. (I'm reasonably sure I can get the blood on the black pants down to not really noticeable.)
I'm really tired -- my eyes get tired without my glasses, even though I can still see half-way decently, and I didn't have anything to read while I was in the ER.
I feel like I've got a bad cold, and I'll see what the doctor says in the morning. I called his office, said "I broke my nose today -- I'm still in the emergency room. Can I see the doctor tomorrow?" and got an appointment.
Tomorrow I'll see if I feel up to driving or need to take a cab there.
I'm going to try to catch up on reading lj and Usenet, but I don't know how long I'm going to be up.
