My reading this weekend turned out to be E. Phillips Oppenheim. About five of his books -- The Avenger, The Double Traitor, The Great Secret ... and I forget the other titles. There are thirty five of his books available for free online. Most, if not all, in Project Gutenberg.
Yesterday morning I went to the eye doctor. They had only the teeny little frames that I don't like, so I went to Lenscrafters and had them put new lenses in my old frames. I had lunch while I was waiting, and I made it to work on time. The bifocal line isn't in quite the same place, but I'll get used to it in a few days.
Last night I slept better than I have in quite a while. Maybe the reduction in eyestrain had something to do with it. [My right eye had gotten quite a bit worse, so I had to do all my reading with my left eye. Now my right eye is slightly better than the left, if anything. While my glasses are on.]
On Friday I go to the regular doctor, and I'll see what she has to say about my allergies and my hearing problem.
I have Farthing, but I don't know whether I'll be able to read it. If I start getting too depressed, down it goes. I'll look at it on Friday, when I'll have several hours.
I've been reading helenkenyon's fantasy whodunit. I followed her progress on rasfc while she was writing it, and I am finding it to be a satisfying reading experience. I'm saving the rest for tomorrow night at work -- it usually gets fairly quiet after 7:00.
